Address & mail service
What a registered office is
Every Australian company must have a registered office: the address where official notices and legal documents can be delivered. It’s on the public ASIC register.
It must be a street address. A PO Box can’t be used. If your company doesn’t occupy the address itself, you need the occupier’s consent.
Occupier’s consent, done
When you’re approved, a signed occupier’s consent letter for your company is waiting in your dashboard. Keep it with your company records.
Registered office vs principal place of business vs mailing address
| Address | What it’s for | Can be MailStreet? |
|---|---|---|
| Registered office | Where official notices are served. Public on the ASIC register. | Yes |
| Principal place of business | Where the business is mainly carried on. | Yes, if that’s accurate for your business (your call) |
| Mailing address | Where you want general mail sent. | Yes |

Anti-money-laundering law applies to us
Since 1 July 2026, businesses that provide a registered office address are covered by Australia’s anti-money-laundering laws. We verify everyone behind each company using our address and keep the records for 7 years. That’s why sign-up includes ID checks, and why your address is released only once they pass.
Registered office questions
Can my registered office be a PO Box?
No. ASIC requires a registered office to be a street address. Ours is a real street address in Preston, Melbourne.
Does my registered office have to be where I work?
No. Your registered office is where official notices can be delivered. Many companies use a separate registered office address, as long as the occupier consents.
Can I use it for a company registered in another state?
Yes. ASIC is national, so a Victorian registered office works for a company that trades anywhere in Australia.
Can a public company use it?
By request only. A public company's registered office has to be open to the public at set hours, so we look at each request individually. Contact us before signing up.
What happens to official mail from ASIC or the ATO?
We photograph it the day it arrives and alert you. Most people scan government mail straight away; you can set a rule to scan it automatically.
